Keuka: The literal indigenous meaning is “Lake with an elbow”. It is the most unusually shaped of all the Finger Lakes and one of the shallowest. Because of its shallow depths, Keuka has one of the warmest water temperatures, ideal for moderating the environment to grow premium grapes. We will begin with breathtaking views of the Lake, and visits to THREE of the wineries surrounding Keuka Lake. We will choose, based on availability, which wineries we visit. We will take your recommendations on which wineries to visit, but we cannot guarantee them.  Door-to-door service from area accommodations or departure from the Finger Lakes Casino and Racetrack is at 10:00 a.m. Pickup times may vary depending on your pickup location. Weis Vineyards

Born in Zell Mosel, Germany, Winemaker Hans Peter Weis grew up in the vineyards and cellar of his family winery. It is there that he gained his passion for wine. Continually learning and working with his family to learn the techniques and traditions of the Mosel. The first harvest for Weis Vineyards was the Fall of 2016.  The tasting room opened, and the first vintage was released in the spring of 2017.  In the first few years, Peter and Ashlee utilized a quaint one-room schoolhouse to provide personalized tasting to everyone who visited them.

Keuka Lake Vineyards

In 1992, Mel Goldman and his wife Dorothee fell for the Finger Lakes on a family camping trip. This affection, paired with a long-standing dream to plant a vineyard, led them to purchase a few acres of the former Taylor Wine Co. vineyard in 1993. Mel retired early, in 1997, to focus totally on the vineyard, and the Riesling and Pinot Noir vines that he and Dorothee would plant soon after still stand on the estate to this day. Mel sold his crop in the early years, but as the vines matured, he saw the quality in KLV grapes. Today, KLV’s estate vineyards have grown to include 40 acres on the east and west slopes of Keuka Lake’s southern end. Six varietals grow in the glacial soils, both vinifera and hybrid. Every vintage that they produce is rooted in the original passion that brought them to the Finger Lakes, and in honoring what their spectacular vineyards provide.
